Strong hold. Dead matte. No shine, no surrender.
Buy — $28What it does to your hair
One tin of clay. Works in dry hair, works in damp hair, still holds at hour fourteen — and washes out with your normal shampoo.
Holds its shape through wind, sweat and a hat — and still combs out clean at night.
No wet look, no grease. A dry, matte finish that reads like your hair just does that.
Fourteen ingredients, made in small batches in Montana — and you can read every one of them.
What is in it
No mystery base. No "fragrance" standing in for a list of its own. You can read the whole label in ten seconds — so here it is, in the order it is printed on the tin.
10 of them do the work — waxes, butters, oils and two clays. The other 4 (greyed above) are there to hold oil and water together and keep a tin from spoiling on your shelf. That is the whole list.
Hat hair
It is built to keep its shape under a brim all day — and to let you push it back where you want it with your fingers when the hat comes off. No comb, no water, no starting over.
How to use it
Start with less than you think you need — you can always go back for the second scoop, but you cannot take it out once it is in.
About ten seconds, until the clay turns from a lump into a film across your hands. Cold clay drags through hair; warm clay disappears into it.
Push it through dry or towel-damp hair from the back forward, getting it at the root where the hold comes from. Then shape the front with your fingers.
It never goes hard or crunchy, so your hair can be pushed back into place after a hat, a truck window or a long afternoon.

One tin, and no size to get wrong. It turns up ready to hand over — to the man with a hat for it, or the one who could use the excuse.
Before you ask
Yes — Cowboy Clay is a styling clay for the hair on your head. Not a beard balm, not a face product. A tin lives on the shelf next to your comb.
Either. Damp hair gives you more control and a smoother shape; dry hair gives you more texture and a little more grip.
A fingertip for short hair, a thumbnail for longer or thicker hair. Work it in, then add more only if the shape will not hold.
Warm water and your normal shampoo. It is clay, not wax — it is not built to fight you at the end of the day.
Fourteen ingredients: water, wax, shea butter, coconut, castor, argan and grapeseed oils, two clays, collagen, and four that keep it emulsified and preserved. The full list is on this page and on the tin.
